Storage Tips

  • Store bulky items such as sofas and mattresses at the end of your storage units.
  • Don’t leave internal space of cupboards, drawers and bedside tables empty when they can be filled with smaller items.
  • Always store photo frames and mirrors standing upright and never flat on the floor.
  • Pack properly and tightly to ensure that your belongings stay in tip-top condition for long periods.
  • Seal against dust. Using tape and furniture covers will help against dust infiltrating your belongings.
  • Label boxes and keep a list of the boxes labelled for easy reference and retrieval.
  • Don’t wrap with newspapers. News print may stain your belongings when in contact for extended periods of time.
  • Make sure fluids are securely contained. Leakage will damage items below the source of the leak. Therefore it is important to ensure that containers are watertight and sturdy enough to withstand stacking and handling.
  • Place light and fragile items on top of the heavy stuff to avoid damage.
  • Fast moving goods should always be placed at the front for easier access.
  • Use shelving racks to organize small boxes and loose items for easy identification, and to maximize storage space.
